Ingredients
- 2 cups whole-wheat flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 cup raisins
- 3/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
and grease and flour a loaf pan, knocking out
excess flour.
In a large bowl whisk together
dry ingredients. Stir in remaining ingredients
until just combined.
Pour batter into prepared pan
and bake in middle of oven until a tester comes
out clean, about 1 hour.
Cool bread in pan on a rack
for 5 minutes.
Turn loaf out onto rack and
cool completely before slicing.
