Filling:
- 1 9-inch pie shell
- 3 eggs, at room temperature
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter
- 2 ounces melted unsweetened chocolate
- 1 3/4 cups walnut pieces
Directions
Preheat the oven to 425 F.
In a large bowl, beat the eggs until the yolks and whites are blended. Add the corn syrup, sugar, vanilla, salt, and butter, and beat until smooth. Add chocolate Add walnuts. Pour mixture into the prepared pie shell.
Bake for 15 minutes, reduce the heat to 350 F and baking for about 25 minutes longer, or until the filling has puffed slightly and has set around the edges, the center will still be slightly wiggly. As the pie cools it will set.
